NEW ZANARIA AUCTION - MILAN, NOVEMBER 8th 2025

Saturday, November 8, in Milan, at Via Bernardino Luini 5, we will hold our thirteenth philatelic auction.
Around 1,000 carefully selected lots will be offered. As per tradition, we will feature an important section dedicated to the Old Italian States, including extraordinary rarities — mint, used, and on-cover stamps — often in unique frankings, with a particular focus on Lombardy-Venetia, the Papal States, and Tuscany.

Among this year’s extremely rare items stand out the 15c pink of Lombardy-Venetia with complete St. Andrew’s cross (lot 25), starting at €10.000, the red Mercury (lot 115), starting at €25.000, and the 3c green of the Papal States, color error, unissued (lot 341), with a starting price of €40.000.

Among the few known examples of Tuscany, we note the 2s scarlet on blue paper, strip of five cancelled “PER CONSEGNA” (lot 707), starting at €10.000, and the 1q black block of sixteen (lot 729), starting at €12.500. This is considered the largest known block, except for the complete sheet from the former Rothschild collection.

There will also be excellent opportunities from the Kingdom of Italy, Italian Territories, and foreign countries. Exceptionally rare — and the finest of the two known examples — is the tricolour franking made of three perforated Matraire issues of Italy for Vienna (lot 1024), starting at €40.000.

We are also pleased to present a world-class specialized collection dedicated to Classical Greece, with top-level rarities such as lot 3038 (starting at €6.000) and lot 3064 (starting at €1.500). Finally, as usual, the last section of the sale will be devoted to large lots, ranging from the Old Italian States to the Kingdom of Italy - such as lot 4019, starting at €25.000 - and to modern worldwide collections. A unique and unrepeatable assemblage is lot 4054, dedicated to the Baltic States: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Memel, with a starting price of €5.000. Also noteworthy is lot 4093, Switzerland starting at €7.000.
